Egyptian actress Soad Hosni dancing in a scene from the 1972 film ‘Khali Balak min Zouzou’ (Take care of Zouzou) the story of a young woman who is at university by day but works as a singer/dancer in her mother’s troupe by night. Her work as an entertainer is a secret. The title of the film is based on a common Egyptian colloquial expression ‘Khali balak min nafsak’ in English we might say ‘Take care of yourself’.
The scene starts with Zouzou’s mother, played by bellydance legend Taheya Karioka, lying down for a nap. What follows is her dream/nightmare.
