Here’s another ‘golden oldie’ performance this time the dancer is Egyptian bellydancer Lucy (لوسى). Her performance is in two parts. In this clip she’s wearing a blue bedlah.

This is Hoda Shams El Din – aka Houda Shams El Den aka Hoda Shems Eldin aka Hoda Shamseddine – performing in a scene from the 1955 Egyptian film ‘Kabtan Misr’ (‘The Captain of Egypt’ or ‘Captain Egypt’ كابتن مصر ). The film centres around Boushkash (بوشكاش) played by Egyptian comedian Ismail Yassin, who joins a football team. The couple dancing with the jug on their heads are the film’s stars Ismail Yassin and Zeinat Sedki. Also starring were Mary Munib and Mahmoud el Meliji. The male singer in this scene is Mohamed el Kahlawy.
Nabaweya Mustafa is the dancer in this scene from the 1947 Egyptian film ‘Ana albi dalili’ (My Heart is My Guide قلبي دليلي). The film starred Anwar Wajdi, the man in the overalls and Leila Mourad who’s the girl locked in the basement with the villain of the film, Stefan Rosti. The singer is Mahmoud Abdel Aziz aka Abdel Aziz Mahmoud (عبدالعزيز محمود).
Trivia 1: In the film there’s a scene set at a masked ball where three masked thieves (who are disguised as three masked thieves) mix with the guests. The thieves are played by well known Egyptian screen actors Abdelmonem Ismail and Abdel Hamid Zaki along with a very young Farid Shawki.
Trivia 2: The toothless guy who features in the clip is a member of the gang of kidnappers and is played by Riad al Kosabgy (رياض القصبجي).
This is Egyptian bellydancer Hendeya performing at a private function held in a hotel ballroom in Cairo, probably during the 1990s. In this clip she’s wearing a purple and yellow bedlah and she also wears one purple shoe and one yellow shoe to match.
This is Egyptian bellydancer Hendeya performing part of her nightclub show which also features shaabi singer Sami Ali (سامي علي ). Hendeya was very popular during the 1990s, while Sami Ali is best known to dancers from his songs with Sahar Hamdi.
Hendeya also danced in several Egyptian movies and you’ll find a couple of her scenes here on Vimeo. She’s from the same era as Lucy.
