Nagwa Fouad dances in a scene from the 1959 Egyptian comedy ‘Umm Ratiba’ (أم رتيبة) which starred Mary Mounib, Omar el Hariri, Abdel Monem Ibrahim, Hassan Fayek and Wedad Hamdi. The film tells the story of Umm Ratiba (Mounib) and her brother Suleiman (al Hariri) who are under the thumb of their elder brother Abdel (Fouad Shafik). Their brother is obsessed with witchcraft and in this scene is holding a séance with his cronies. The three fan wavers in this scene are actors Mohammed Toukhi, Ahmed Gezeri and Shafiq Noureddine. Umm Ratiba’s brother is also opposed to her marriage to their neighbour (Hassan Fayek). Abdel warns his sister and brother that, should he die, he will come back to haunt them to make sure they continue to follow his orders. Then he dies….
Nagwa Fouad in a scene from the 1963 Egyptian film ‘El Majneen fi Naim’ (Madmen in Paradise المجانين فى نعيم). She enters wearing a melaya and as the scene progresses she even does The Twist. The film starred Rushdy Abaza who’s the man she dances with in this scene. Co-starring were Stefan Rosti, Zeinat Sedki, Mimi Shakeeb and Ismail Yassin.
