Hayatem (1980) هياتم

This is Hayatem dancing in a scene from the 1980 Egyptian film ‘El Banat Ayza Eh’ (What Girls Want). In this film she plays a bellydancer named Azza. The actor with Hayatem in this scene is Mahmoud Abdel Aziz playing Kamal who’s a serial womaniser.
Triva: In other versions of this film there’s a dance scene with her on stage with Ahmed Adaweya at a nightclub, but unfortunately that scene’s been cut from the tv version 😦

Hayatim (1978) هياتم

Alexandrian born dancer and actress Hayatem in a nightclub scene from ‘Intabihu Ayyuha Al Sada’ (Beware, Gentlemen) which starred Mahmoud Yassin, Hussein Fahmi, Nahed Sharif and Kareem Abdul Aziz. Filmed in 1978 but not released until 1980, the movie tells the story of an engaged couple who’re looking for a flat (apartment) in Cairo. Jalal’s a university professor and Ayda is his fiancée. By chance they meet Antar who used to remove the rubbish from the local mosque but who’s now wealthy. Ayda’s mother considers Antar to be a better match for her daughter as he is rich, unlike the professor. Over the course of the film she persuades her daughter to ditch the professor and marry Antar. In the final scene Antar and his new bride, the professor’s former fiancée, leave their wedding reception at a nightclub in Pyramid Road and they’re confronted by the professor. In this scene we see that the professor has lost not only his fiancée but also his sanity.  To quote Relli Shechter “His professorship at Cairo University and the five philosophy books he has written are of no use when he needs to buy an apartment.”

The less we say about the size C chest in the size B bra though the better……

Hayatem (1981) هياتم

Egyptian actress and bellydancer Hayatem in a scene from the 1981 drama ‘Al Wahsh Dakhel al Insan’ (The Beast Within Mankind الوحش داخل الإنسان).  The film is often referred to as ‘Al Wahsh Dakhel’ or ‘The Beast Within’.  The English translation of the credits on the film itself refers to it as simply ‘The Beast’.  If you want a film that shows Egyptian rural life in much of its gritty reality, this is a good film to see.

Anyway moving along, the film starred Nahed Sherif, Mahmoud Yaseen and Said Saleh in the story of Sodfa (Sherif) who is married to her mentally challenged cousin Sayed but is in love with Mahmoud (Yaseen). Long story short, Mahmoud kills Sayed and marries Sodfa, they both have tortured consciences, various incriminating letters are written, the dead husband’s mother overhears a confession, she has a stroke and is paralysed, the dancer is killed and Mahmoud and Sodfa drown together when their car crashes into the harbour.
Trivia: No surprise then that the film is based on the gloom ridden novel ‘Thérèse Raquin’ by Emil Zola.

Hayatim (1978) هياتم

This is Alexandria born dancer and actress Hayatim performing in a scene from the 1978 movie, ‘One Smile is Enough’ (Ebtisama Wahedat Takfi ابتسامة واحدة تكفي ). The film starred Nour al Sherif, Ragaa el Geddawy and Yousra.
Hayatim has appeared in numerous Egyptian movies, initially as a bellydancer who did a bit of acting but later as an actress who did a bit of dancing. She was featured in a series of Egyptian bellydance VHS tapes that introduced many Western bellydancers to famous Egyptian dancers such as Nagwa Fouad, Soheir Zaki, Mona al Saiid and Hala al Safy.
Hayatim was a terrific dancer in her heyday despite the eye searing ‘special effects’ that often featured in her videos.
