The “King of Shaabi”, Egyptian singer Ahmed Adawiya, performing in a scene from the 1984 comedy film ‘Ya Rab Walad’ (Let it be a boy). The bellydancer is not named in the credits. The film starred Farid Shawki (فريد شوقي) as the father of three daughters who regrets not having a son to carry on the family business. When his two eldest daughters marry he hopes their husbands will be able to help in the business but they turn out to be great disappointments. Also starring were Karima Mokhtar, Samir Ghanem and Isaad Younis.
Fifi Abdu dances in a scene from the 1988 comedy ‘Hasan Bey al Ghalban’ which starred Samir Ghanem, Said Saleh, Isaad Younes and Younis Shalabi. The singer is Sha’abi legend, Ahmad Adaweya.
Well there’s something for everyone in this scene from the 2001 Egyptian comedy “El Selem We Al Tho’ban” (Snakes and Ladders السلم و الثعبان). There’s dancing, tanoura, a pantomime dancing horse, guns, canes, singing, music and lots of fun, what more could we ask for?
