Soheir Ramzy is the daughter of actress Doria Ahmed. After her early days as a child actress Soheir worked as an air hostess and then as a model prior to her career in films. She made a name for herself playing ‘saucy’ roles in a string of movies in the 1970s. She’s been married several times, including once to Farouk al Fishawi and on another occasion to a former husband of bellydancer Nagwa Fouad.
In 1992 Soheir Ramzy retired from acting and began wearing modest clothing and hijab (head covering). She returned to tv acting as a hijabi in 2006.

Soheir Ramzy (1977)

Actress Soheir Ramzy dances in a scene from the 1977 Egyptian film ‘Helwa Ya Dona al Hob’ (حلوة يا دنيا الحب). The film starred Soheir Ramzy, Hussein Fahmy and Akila Rateb. The film tells the story of a man who hits the road after being told that his father isn’t really his father. He joins a travelling show and falls in love with the dancer.
Soheir Ramzy is an actress who danced as and when required by the role she played. After a busy career she retired from the screen early in the 1990s following her decision to cover and wear hijab. In 2005 she announced her return to the screen in a tv drama series but she subsequently reversed her decision. In 2006 she decided to go ahead in a tv series, and has since made maybe half a dozen tv series and a radio play.
